Items you need:

  • Cotton

  • Acetone

  • File

  • Foil

  • Cuticle oil or a thick cream

What are the steps?

1. File the nails

Gently file your nails to make the surface rough. Here the goal is not to remove the color so take it easy. What you want to do is to remove the shine then move to the next step.

2. Protect your skin

Before you use acetone make sure you apply cuticle oil or thick cream to the skin surrounding the nail. Acetone damages the skin and dehydrates it so a layer of protection is needed. To find out how you can get rid of pimples read here.

3. Soak cotton balls in acetone

Put acetone in a small bowl and soak cotton balls. You may want to be generous with the acetone so that it comes into contact with the nails and does not get all absorbed by the cotton.

4. Wrap nails with foil

Place the cotton balls on your nails and wrap them up with pieces of foil. It may get a little tricky and you have to be patient and gentle.Once you have wrapped all of them wait for 15 minutes.

5. Remove the polish

Pull of the foil together with the cotton ball for each nail. Apply a little pressure to make sure the underlying nail polish also comes off. It should peel right off. However, if some polish remains apply another soaked cotton ball and wait for 10 minutes before removing it.

6. Wash your hands

Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly
